Master (Chapter Two)

To Paul: A loving Master (Part One)

David was driving his car and he saw something on the road. It was a weirdly-shaped creature and its body was dripping blood all over the place. He wanted to go out of the car to help the thing but it suddenly vanished.

Dave was on his way to visit his Master's grave. On his tombstone was written "Paul Dawson, a teacher, master, and a father." The name of his teacher made him involuntarily fall into the ghostly memories of his past again. Paul was giving his first lecture when he asked Dave to go outside and grab himself a bottle of water.

The whole attention of the class now centered upon Dave because he was sweating all over his face. It was his issue. He handled the pressure that way.

"I was just nervous because everything you're teaching me, including your style of teaching, is new to me."

"Good, so the rumors were true. You 'can' speak."

The whole classroom, including Dave, burst into laughter.

He quickly went outside to get a bottle of water from the cafeteria.

On his way to the café, David saw many students. Some of them were his seniors and some his juniors, according to his suspect. While walking down the corridor, he saw a beautiful yet short girl. Dave quickly noticed her ear piercings. He fell in love with her, there and then. It was a moment of truth.

David came back from his memory strolling and called Amy, telling her to come to his favorite restaurant to have some ice cream because she loved eating sweet things and so did her husband.

Amy was waiting for Dave to arrive. She ordered a glass of wine but did not touch it until he arrived. She was anxiously waiting for him because he had never done anything like this before. As soon as he arrived, she tried to inquire him about where he had left off but Dave was not interested in having that conversation at that time.

He sat. Amy poured her husband a glass of red wine.

"Wine...?"

"Yeah."

"Fine, I'll have it."

"So, what's up?"

"Nothing much. Wanna order your favorite ice cream?"

"We'll have it later. Right now I'm interested in just us talking and drinking our glasses of wine."

"You wanna talk? I will talk. Bring it on!"

"Do you?" Amy started to get a little serious now.

Dave burst into laughter. His laughter made Amy smile. Everything went back to normal.

"We did not need two glasses. We'll use this one glass. Wine is like love. It needs to be shared and divided amongst two lovers and drinkers."

"You don't need to flirt with your wife just to get what you need."

"Maybe it's the wine talking."

"Aw come on, babe. You just had one sip."

"And see where has it taken me."

"Your words, your poetry, and your smile. That was the reason why I fell in love with you. Stop using those things to come (at me).

"Again, it's the wine talking."

Amy sipped a glass of wine and demanded Dave take her home right away. He drove off with her. Amy was startled at what he had said because it had been quite a time since Dave talked sweetly with Amy.

"What was the thing that has brought my husband back to what he was? Or is this a new phase in our lives? Does he even know who he was before?" Amy's mind was filled with questions like these. But looking at her husband's face got made her fall asleep. She fell asleep in an instant. Dave did not notice until he reached the gates of their home. He quickly picked her up from the car seat, took her to their bed, and placed her on it.

"She looks so peaceful in her sleep, just like always." Dave thought.
