Master: “It’s Been Five Years Now”
“Now, a few minutes ago, you called me master. What is a master: I would say that he is not someone who teaches something, but someone who inspires the student to do his best to discover knowledge he already has in his soul.”
― Paulo Coelho, The Archer

“It’s been five years now.”
It was 9:00 pm. Amy was going through a book after she and her husband David had finished eating. David was a successful writer, trainer, and motivational speaker. He owned more than twenty writing companies. He had recently gotten into a marriage with Amy. It had proved to be going well so far.
Amy: “It’s been five years now, David!”
David was watching Netflix in utter silence and concentration. He paused the TV and turned his face towards his wife.
David: “Five years since what, honey?”
“Since the demise of your Master, Dave”
David put the TV remote on the desk. His eyes could not face Amy. It was as if he was reminded of an old scar that never got healed. He took a glass of water that she brought him. His memory soon took him to a place where he was sitting in a classroom. It was the first day of school in Grade 10.
Since it was the first day of school, so there were only five students that day. They were all anxiously waiting for the teacher to come. However, it seemed like he was stuck in traffic, as informed by the Administration.
Dave opened his notebook and started writing some pieces of poetry because he was getting bored. After a few minutes, some lady entered the classroom and told the students that they could take a break of 15 minutes as the teacher might not show up that day. She was Victoria, the head of the School Administration.
David went out of the classroom with the other students and saw the roster where he could see the names of the teachers and the subjects they were going to teach.
He saw that his first lecture would be of Chemistry. He was mumbling something after reading his teacher's name on the sheet, unaware of the fact that the teacher was standing besides him, smiling.
David looked at the teacher and he was startled because he thought that the teacher might have heard what he said. Then he asked him and the fellow students to go inside the classroom.
That was the first interaction Dave had with the teacher. His name was Paul. He taught Chemistry at five fine high schools of the area. David, at that time, lived in Houston, Texas.
"Did you complete that novel yet, Dave?", said Amy.
"I haven't started writing it yet. I am still stuck on where to start writing it from."
"Perhaps you should get some rest now and start working on it in the morning."
He did not dignify her last comment with a response, grabbed his car keys and got out of the house. He got into the car and started driving into nowhere. To his surprise, what he saw on the road was absolutely stunning.
What did David see on the road? Read the next chapter to find out.
